Rafting the Wairoa River

The ultimate in Rafting in the Bay Of Plenty region, the Wairoa is a full on grade 5 river and is only open 26 days a year (every second Sunday September to May). The water is released from the Ruahihi Power Station to allow the 2-hour Rafting experience of a lifetime. The scenery along the rock and tree lined gorge is as much a part of the trip as the exciting waterfalls and rapids. The Wairoa River is situated between Matamata and Tauranga, at the base of the Kaimai Ranges.
